In most browsers, messaging applications, and email clients, the encoded domain renders identically to the legitimate one it mimics. The site presents as a self-custody Ethereum wallet interface, targeting users who manage ERC-20 assets and who are accustomed to visiting the genuine platform.
Victims reach the site via phishing links distributed through social media or messaging platforms, where the encoded domain appears identical to the authentic service. The interface replicates a legitimate wallet platform, complete with matching visual design and familiar prompts. The operative moment arrives when the site solicits a seed phrase or private key, framed as necessary for wallet import or recovery. Any credentials submitted are transmitted to the operator, granting full control over all associated addresses.
Discovery of the compromise is almost always triggered by unsolicited outgoing transactions. Because blockchain transfers are irreversible by design, assets moved by the operator cannot be recovered through technical intervention alone. The domain offers no operator identity, no support contact, and no dispute mechanism. What typically remains for investigators is an on-chain transaction trail and domain registration metadata, both useful for attribution work but rarely sufficient for unilateral asset recovery without broader legal engagement.
