El dominio xn--mytherwallet-cok.com es un nombre de dominio internacionalizado que, al ser representado por la mayoría de los navegadores, resulta visualmente idéntico a un conocido servicio de billetera de autocustodia de Ethereum. El operador explota una debilidad documentada en la visualización de punycode: un carácter Unicode dentro de la etiqueta es indistinguible de su equivalente ASCII al tamaño de lectura normal. Es casi seguro que el sitio presenta una interfaz de billetera completa, que reproduce la identidad visual y la disposición del servicio genuino con fidelidad suficiente para superar una inspección superficial.
Las víctimas suelen llegar a través de correos de phishing, publicidad maliciosa o enlaces en redes sociales que muestran la forma Unicode del dominio, ocultando su codificación punycode. Una vez en la página, la instrucción operativa es ingresar una frase semilla, una clave privada o un archivo keystore, presentada como un acceso o una recuperación rutinaria de la billetera. Estas credenciales se recopilan del lado del servidor. Dado que las claves privadas de Ethereum y las frases semilla BIP-39 otorgan acceso incondicional a los activos en cadena, un solo envío basta para que el operador vacíe la billetera por completo.
El fraude suele pasar inadvertido hasta que la billetera de la víctima ya ha sido vaciada. El descubrimiento, cuando ocurre, normalmente llega cuando un usuario atento inspecciona la barra de direcciones del navegador con suficiente detenimiento como para notar el prefijo punycode o un carácter sutilmente deformado en la etiqueta. Para entonces, los fondos por lo general ya no están: las transacciones de la cadena de bloques son irreversibles, la billetera es no custodial por diseño y no existe intermediario alguno en posición de congelar o recuperar la transferencia.
